Vivaaaaa Las Vegas!
Part 1.
OMG I'm so excited for Vegas! Shit gets crazy in Vegas according to Becca and we were back in a hotel!! With beds! And air con! And free showers that you can spend as long as you like in!!
While on the road our first stop was the historic Route 66. The original was first built as a direct route between Chicago to Los Angeles for Hollywood connections which actually lead to the boom of Hollywood. We stopped off at this old town on the way which was the cutest thing ever. It was full of old American cars, bars, shops and motels. All available to wander through and explore. We hopped off outside a shop with a VW wagon outside which was covered in signatures of everyone who had visited, all the sides were completely full so I hopped on the bumped and reached onto the roof and signed my signature right there on the top! In the shop next to it I also met the CUTEST puppy dog ever, 6 week old Clifford! I bought some adorable American flag socks because it seems to be a theme of getting anything printed in red white and blue between me and fliss! (She's actually sat here nursing her new tattoo which has red, white and blue in it!). Another thing that has become, well more of an obsession actually, is iced coffee. We can barely go a day with it! We got one from a local bar which stocked Starbucks coffee (for where we are, that's frickin amazing!). We ummed and arred over which flavour we would get from the 12 different syrups! The barrister then recommend his favourite. A Reese's mocha. Ok, this was peanut butter syrup, chocolate and a double expresso... SHIT! It was so good! Good choice sir!!
After a double expresso, I was a ball of energy sat in the back, especially when I knew lunch was at somewhere I've wanted to eat at for AGES! We were eating at In'N'Out burger. OMG, seriously the best burger I've ever had in my life! Everything is made fresh for your order, but ordering is a tricky one. The menu is super basic, it has just a burger, a cheese burger, fries and a drinks menu. The trick to In'N'Out burger is their SECRET menu... You basically design how you want your meal, you can double up, triple up, get 2x3 (2 meat, 3 cheese) 4x4 (4 meat, 4 cheese) etc. and then the best thing is 'Animal Style' your fries. Crispy onions, chopped pickles, cheese and thousand island dressing.... NO WORDS! Hands down the best burgers! And it's all designed as a 50's diner! Anyone visiting the West coast, you NEED to go to one!!
Vegas bitches! G Adventures has arrived! We had a party bus planned for this evening, so before hitting the strip we stopped off at a liquor store. Well, I've never seen a place like it before. They had a whole aisle dedicated to gin! We were stood there for about 20-30 minutes debating which gin we would go for. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw a 1.75litre bottle of Hendricks gin for $55!? That's like £35-£40!? To be honest, all the alcohol was crazy cheap! We settled on a bottle of Bloom gin and a bottle of prosecco because we like to feel like we're fancy in Vegas, Vegas on a budget!
We stayed in the Super 8 which was just 1 street behind the strip so was an ideal situation. After 3 weeks of camping our hair was just a mess, dragging a comb through my hair was beginning to get painful, so between me, fliss and Becca we'd decided we'll have a hair therapy night. We went to Target (in which we passed a Starbucks!! A venti blackberry tea mojito lemonade never tasted so good!!) and indulged ourselves in a good conditioner and a coconut hair mask, oh Lordy, thank god for Target!
The party bus was absolutely crazy! Who ever thought of driving around Vegas with a group of drunk people on a bus with A STRIPPER POLE in it.... Well they're a frickin genius! It was such good fun! After 10 days of hikes, camping and long bus journeys we were finally able to have a blow out and let off some steam! We all got the chance to get ourselves dolled up (my hair looked fabulous FYI) and see what the city had to offer at night.
After the bus we were dropped off outside the Bellagio to see the fountains. (If I'm totally honest, I don't remember what the fountains did at all) we ended up standing there for another hour or so watching them while we drank (and yes, I still don't remember what they did) but I didn't manage to get photos!
Some of the group wanted to go to a nightclub, but I just wanted to see the hotels and casinos. So the three of us walked from The Bellagio through Caesar's Palace (which is HUGE), last The Mirage and down to Treasure Island.
I've never experienced anything like the scale of Las Vegas before. I imagined it being one strip of every hotel and they would be all close to each other. It actually nothing like that! The casinos are HUGE and are actually very spaced out (I found this out tomorrow). So doing 3 casinos in one night was quite good going really, I even had a go on a Las Vegas slot machine!! I actually won $5 but the excitement made me lose it again...
We finished in Treasure Island at about 1am-2am, when we were just sat on a bench after watching a blackjack table, when a woman came over and asked to borrow a cigarette off Becca. Before she walked away she started talking about her energy and that it was really strong, now I've always been really into psychics but I've never wanted to go to one because I believe your going into their domain so I think it makes it easier for them because they know your already open to the idea. This woman had absolutely no idea about us, well up until I was like 'OMG I LOVE PSYCHICS!!' That may have gave it away a little... But from that point, I've always made a point I would never divulge anything about my life until they had finished because I want to see if it's real or not. Well, we all sat around her just on a bench outside Treasure Island and she started with me, then Becca, then fliss. She actually gave us an energy and aura reading and by the end, all of us were in floods of tears! I've never experienced anything like it, she knew exactly how I had been feeling, she knew what I was doing, how I was feeling right now. Granted some of the stuff she said was very general but then other things hit right to the core, she picked up on something's that I haven't told anyone before EVER. We were all totally moved by her and to say she just came up out of no where was exactly the type of experience I wanted it to be, girl a believer now!!
After that, I had to hit a 24hour Starbucks. Get me a blackberry tea mojito lemonade!
