Day 12.

White Trash Party.

Sorry to disappoint but we didn't do much today! Spent pretty much the whole day driving from New Orleans to Houston. I did however try out the waffle machine, wowzer! I need one of those in my life!

So we were just sat on the van all day today, it's a crazy long drive, but not as long as the one between San Antonio and Carlsbad caverns... That's a fun 14 hour drive! Luckily we're in the front seat, thank god!! I mainly used this time to catch up on my blog and fliss tried to catch up with her writing too, she's got a few more days to catch up on than me! And seeing as though I get shouted at by several people now when I don't post, I thought it best to catch up!!

On the way to Houston we stopped for lunch and went to a restaurant called Mcallister's which was very popular! And I can see why, the food was super good. It's definitely true what they say though, everything is bigger in Texas! Even the damn salads! I got a Southwest Cobb salad with a lemonade. The lemonade was about 32oz and had free refills. Neither of us managed to finish our food and the waitress seemed genuinely shocked someone hadn't finished the food, surely not!?!? And asked us if we wanted a to go box... For a salad? No thanks.

We weren't visiting Houston it was just one of the stops we were staying at on our way to San Antonio. Fliss was quite disappointed as she was out on cowboy hunt again, I'm sure she'll see one at the Alamo tomorrow though!

We had to do another grocery shop as it was back to camping (boo!) we also were having our BBQ and White Trash Party tonight. Now we already had our outfits planned, apart from being utter white trash ourselves, we didn't get chance to use our Trouble 1 and Trouble 2 t-shirts last night because we got back so late from the tour everyone was too tired for a night out. So the rest of the group was on hunt mood for white trash outfits in Walmart. I swear this one is bigger than the last one! I went in search for Anti Bug Spray because Houston is terrible for bugs! (You should see everyone's feet so far, they're so badly bitten!) and I thought it would be in the pharmacy, which was in the corner of the store, after a really 'helpful' woman who told me it was on the other side of the shop. What. Honestly it took me probably 3 or 4 minutes to actually walk to where I needed to be! What do they cram into these places!?!?

Filling the coolers was a tough job, it was 6pm and I was still 31 degrees. I've never felt myself sweat from every pore in my body before... After getting to camp and setting up all everyone wanted to do was go in the pool for a cool down. You'd think that wouldn't be too much to ask right!? Oh yes. The stupid pool was closed!! So we broke in anyway and realised the reason why was because the thing was practically lime green with algae, so disappointed!! We had to settle for cold showers instead!

It was group 3's turn for cooking, we had BBQ chicken, veg and Becca's mash on the menu for tonight, I did the veg and boiled the potatoes and Mark was chef on the BBQ (which he did a splendid job of, snaps for Mark!). I won't go into what Becca put into her mash because I can't relive those calories, but it was super good and worth it!

After dinner we broke the beer cooler out, and got change into our white trash outfits! Not to be outdone, we broke out the t-shirts, hiked up the shorts, messed up the hair and strapped on our bandanas. It was actually worrying how quickly we turned into white trash...

We spent the night playing a variety of drinking games. A new one for me was Flip Cups. You fill you drink with a shot of whatever your drinking. You tap the table, down the drink and then you have to balance the cup on the side of the table and flip the cup onto it's other side with 2 fingers, and your group can't follow until your cup is standing! I clearly don't have a knack for drinking games because we lost, miserably!!

After an interesting game of 'I Have Never'... We finished the night at about midnight as it was a family campsite and plus it was a strict 8am leaving time so would be another early morning. You would of thought I'd of been used to them by now!

San Antonio tomorrow, into the heart of Texas now, it's amazing to look at how far we've travelled already, and how much further we've got to go, pretty exciting!
