Day 61.

Blue Mountains.

It was an early start, 8am on the dot I had to be at the meeting place. Thankfully it was just up the road because I rolled out of bed at 7:30am! I said a sad farewell to my Swedes, they were off to travel Asia! Have an awesome time guys, then headed out the door, grabbing my staple breakfast of Nutella on toast.

We picked up the rest of the group at each of the meeting points then set tracks at about 8:30am, it was about a 2 hour drive until we reached the Blue Mountains. When travelling on your own, it's amazing the things you find to talk about to complete strangers, never thought I'd be the type to do that!.... Oh god, IM MY FATHER!! I ended up chatting to the girl sat next to me which turned out to be very informative! She'd just finished travelling south east Asia and had visited a few countries I'm planning on going to. So after filling a page or two in my notes of tips and places labelled 'All things Asia' we had reached our first hike trail for day! We were hiking up towards a look out over one of the valleys of the Blue Mountains.

This poor Chinese lady had me a bag of nerves! I had to get away from her incase she killed me with her! She'd clearly not come prepared - wrong shoes, wrong clothes just wrong activity! She kept slipping down the dust paths and almost falling off the edge (I MAY have done this in Yosemite but at least I saved it without yelping!) so I ditched and went straight to the front for the next trail. We were hiking down towards the waterfall. There is actually 900 and odd steps then 'the worlds steepest train' back up, but it definitely cost more than it was worth so we all opted for an optional hike to the waterfall! Now I PROMISE you I've usually so good with directions and this time getting lost totally wasn't my fault ok, hear me out!! So I was busy taking selfies with my stick out on a look out with Louise (girl who'd been to Asia, her friend) for literally 45 seconds and the group had done a disappearing act! As I looked out across the valley I could see them down by the waterfall!? Seriously!? Lost in a rainforest!? We ended up just tagging along on a German trip, not understanding a word, but it caught us up eventually with out group.... Who hadn't even noticed. Score!

We had a late lunch of fresh sandwich and salads, so good since I hadn't had a tomato (aside from in a burger) since my aunts, before setting off for our final point.

We drove for about 20 minutes until we reached a totally secluded area, maybe one of the highest points in the valley? It over looked the entire valley and for as far as the eyes could see was beautiful blue hazed landscape!... Oh, I didn't actually explain why it's blue! There are over 120 types of eucalyptus trees in the national park and the vapour they release, when sun shines through it, causes the blue haze! Also, don't go hoping for koalas, out of the hundreds of types of eucalyptus trees there are, they only eat 30 of them, none of which are the 120 types in blue mountains!! Divas...
